A Civil Police of the Federal District investigates a serious accident in BR-020close to Formosawhich left five people dead. The collision involved a van and a trailer loaded with stones.
O Federal District Fire Department was called at around ten past five in the morning this Tuesday (17), and twelve vehicles were sent to the scene. According to the corporation, seventeen people received care. Eleven were taken to hospitals in Formosa and Federal Districtone passenger did not require transport and five victims died at the scene.
According to preliminary information, the van had left Saint Rita of Cassiaapproximately 700 kilometers from the point of collision. The truck driver took a breathalyzer test, which came back negative. He stated that he was traveling at low speed towards a cement factory in the Federal District and reported that he only heard a strong braking noise, without noticing the impact directly. The driver was taken to the police station to give a statement.
While assisting the victims, the highway was completely closed. The case remains under investigation.
