The Russian state-owned corporation Rostec presented the winners of a design competition dedicated to the “truck of the future”, organized as part of the federal competition Young Design 2025.
The award ceremony took place in Naberezhnye Chelny, the city where the manufacturer is based KAMAZ.
In 2025, KAMAZ, a Rostec company, acted as the main partner of the event and headed a special competition titled “Transportation Design. Perceived Quality Management”.
The task was for students to develop innovative concepts for heavy commercial vehicles, with an emphasis on aesthetics, ergonomics, functionality and user perception of quality.

International participation and a large number of projects
The competition gathered over 800 entries in 13 categories. The works were submitted by students from 30 cities, representing four countries – Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Moldova – as well as 20 regions of Russia.
According to industry observers, the list of participating countries was limited due to international sanctions imposed after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which affected academic and industrial cooperation with institutions in many countries.

According to KAMAZ, students from leading Russian universities took first and second place, and the most promising participants received job offers at KAMAZ itself, reinforcing the program’s goal of connecting academic talent with industry.

Concepts for a new generation of trucks
The awarded projects included solutions aimed at modernizing road transport, including:
- Cabins with aerodynamic lines and an emphasis on energy efficiency
- Digital interfaces integrated into the dashboard
- Ergonomic improvements for the driver
- Use of sustainable materials and modular design
The initiative is part of Rostec’s strategy to stimulate technological innovation through industry-academia cooperation, especially in strategic segments such as heavy transport.
