A man said he was completely shocked to discover a mysterious substance in his car’s fuel tank when he stopped to refuel.
Alberto Martinez from Los Angeles in California (USA) posted a video on his TikTok profile to tell about the incident. “Okay, I’m making this TikTok because I couldn’t believe it,” he begins in the clip.
“I haven’t driven my car since New Year’s Eve. I work in downtown Los Angeles and I was trying to refuel and this is what I found,” Alberto said before showing what was inside the car’s filler pipe.
From the pictures, you can see that the filler tube was filled with a brown, grainy substance. “It’s like sweet salt. Did someone, did someone try to kill me? Or is someone playing tricks on me?” Alberto asked.
Although it is impossible to know for sure, the case appears to be an attempted vehicle sabotage. This is because there is a widespread belief that pouring sugar into a car’s fuel tank can damage the car’s function.

Even if sugar were to actually end up in the tank, the car is not “ruined”, as many people think. Just take the vehicle to a mechanic, who can open the tank and perform a simple cleaning. Also take the opportunity to change the fuel filter, if necessary.
