A man has caught the attention of netizens after demonstrating how a robot that clears snow during snowfall works.
The device Tom Moloughney presented, who lives in New Jersey and runs a popular YouTube channel focused on charging technology and electric vehicles.
In the video, Tom presented his autonomous snow blower, the Yarbo operation as he cleans his approximately 550 square meter entrance during a storm.
“This will be a great test to see if the robot can handle a 557 square foot crawl space during a big winter storm. I’ve been drinking coffee inside while he does his work and so far so good!” he said on his X profile.
Tom also said that the machine charges to about 80% after about 1.25 hours and then automatically returns to continue working.
As the storm continued, Tom said that a Yarbo he operated a snow blower continuously, so he was able to clear the snow in several passes, instead of waiting for the end of the storm.
He restarted the machine remotely when the snow piled up, let it return to the charging station, recharge, then return on its own. He says this strategy helped keep his long entrance “manageable” even as the snow and ice continued to pile up.
In a test video uploaded to his YouTube channel earlier this month, Tom emphasized that he noticed a few bugs with the machine during the test. For example, the robot got stuck after hitting a pile of snow left by a previous cleanup.
Later, the robot continued to operate with only one side of the auger after a cutting pin broke, a problem he only noticed at home. Therefore, Tom rated the product overall from “C to C+”.

Winter Storm Fern has descended upon NJ this morning and my @yarboglobal autonomous snow blower went into action.
This is going to be a great test to see if this robot can handle a 6,000 sq.ft. driveway during a major winter storm.
