The United States government will suspend the issuance of American visas to 75 countries, including Brazil. The information was released by the broadcaster Fox Newsin a public report this Wednesday (14). Countries include Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen and others.
According to the North American broadcaster, the measure was determined by the US State Department and will come into force on January 21, and will last indefinitely.
The North American government expressed itself with the following note, already translated:
The State Department will pause processing immigrant visas from 75 countries whose migrants use American welfare at unacceptable rates. The freeze will remain in effect until the US can ensure that new immigrants do not extract wealth from the American people.
The pause affects dozens of countries — including Somalia, Haiti, Iran and Eritrea — whose immigrants often become public charges to the United States upon arrival.
We are working to ensure that the generosity of the American people is no longer abused.
The Trump Administration will always put “America First.”
