The United States has signed a new $163.4 million contract with Textron Systems for the supply of 65 COMMANDO Select armored vehicles to Ukraine, under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
The purchase will be made through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program and reinforces Washington’s ongoing efforts to increase the protected mobility of Ukraine’s armed forces amid the conflict with Russia.
The three-year, firm-fixed-price contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Procurement Command at the Detroit Arsenal and includes one year of spare parts. The vehicles are being produced specifically for the program, with a focus on improving Ukraine’s ground mobility and defensive response capabilities in an environment characterized by long front lines and persistent threats from artillery, drones and missiles.
The COMMANDO Select is designed for operations in difficult terrain and offers armored protection and high mobility. The vehicle is used for tasks such as troop transport, command and control, military police and security operations. The model has been in use with the US military for two decades and, according to Textron, is characterized by easy maintenance and the use of widely available parts, which simplifies logistics support in the field.
The new order is in addition to previous contracts for armored vehicles destined for Ukraine, including a similar agreement signed in September 2025, also with Textron, worth $163.3 million. It is not yet clear whether both are part of the same financing round, but the series of purchases signals continued U.S. support for the renewal and expansion of Ukraine’s armored vehicle fleet.
