The Ukrainian Army’s Marder infantry fighting vehicle repair center has opened in northern Romania near the Ukrainian border.
The facility, called Service Hub Satu Mare, was built in a short period of time and aims to accelerate the recovery of combat-damaged vehicles and maintain the combat readiness of fleets operating in conflict.
According to Rheinmetall, the new center is fully equipped to carry out complex repair work and is also capable of repairing damage caused by combat activities. Its strategic location near Ukraine reduces transport times and allows the armored vehicle to be returned to active duty quickly.
Germany has already delivered 140 Marder 1A3s to the Ukrainian military and has publicly announced its intention to supply more. As part of the so-called “Ring Exchange” program, the Chilean government agreed to sell 30 Marder 1A3s from Chilean Army stocks to replenish German stocks.
The vehicles transferred by Rheinmetall were previously in service with the German Army and undergo thorough overhaul and modernization before being sent to Ukraine. This step ensures that the armored vehicle arrives in the theater of operations in suitable operational condition.
