Trump tells Iranian protesters to ‘keep names of abusers’ The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Tuesday (13) that the country will adopt “very harsh measures” if Iran begins to hang protesters. The statement was made in an interview with CBS News, when commenting on reports that the Iranian regime plans to execute a young man who participated in acts against the government. ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp The Kurdish-Iranian humanitarian organization Hengaw stated earlier that Erfan Soltani, 26, will be hanged on Wednesday (14), after being detained during a protest against the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the entity, authorities informed the family that the death sentence is final. The family says that Soltani was arrested at home last Thursday (8) and did not have the right to a lawyer. In the interview, Trump said he was not aware of the decision to execute protesters, but issued a warning when informed about the reports. “We will take very tough measures if they do this kind of thing,” he said. Asked what measures could be adopted, Trump only said that the objective would be to “win”. When explaining what he meant by this, he cited examples such as the United States’ actions in Venezuela and operations carried out in 2019 and 2020 that resulted in the deaths of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, then leader of the Islamic State, and Qasem Soleimani, an Iranian general. Trump also mentioned the US attack on Iran in June 2024 as an example of what “winning” would be like. “The Iranian nuclear threat was eliminated in about 15 minutes as soon as the B-2s got there. That was a complete obliteration,” he said. Also on Tuesday, Trump asked protesters to continue protesting in Iran and stated that “help is on the way”, without detailing the meaning of the statement. Asked about this, he said that the United States can act in different ways, including through economic measures.
