Trump also stated that major American oil companies are heading to the South American country for new prospecting projects. See the videos that are trending on g1 The US had recommended that commercial planes not fly over Venezuela on November 29th. “To all airlines, pilots, drug traffickers and human traffickers, please consider the airspace above and around Venezuela as completely closed,” Trump wrote on his social network at the time. The president of the United States does not have the legal authority to close another country’s airspace. With the positioning of American aircraft carriers and other military personnel in the Caribbean Sea region since August, however, the message was in practice equivalent to a closure of airspace. The recommendation led several airlines to suspend flights that crossed Venezuelan territory or had the country as their destination. On January 3, an American military operation kidnapped Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and took him to a New York prison. Since then, Venezuela has been governed by Chavista Delcy Rodríguez, as interim president.
