Trump launches ‘Peace Council’ Body intends to discuss governance, regional relations, reconstruction and investments in Gaza. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, officially launches this Thursday (21) the ‘Peace Council’. The body is a structure created by the USA to work on maintaining peace and rebuilding the Gaza Strip. The initiative could also act in other international conflicts in the future. Trump will have a lifetime term as president of the group and broad powers. Countries that want a permanent seat will need to pay US$1 billion (R$5.37 billion).. There is, however, fear in the international community that the group will weaken the role of the UN.. Leaders from several countries were invited to participate in the council. Among them is President Lula, who has not yet responded.
