Tests of the first CV90 MkIV combat vehicle intended for Slovakia’s armed forces are already underway in Sweden.

The first copies have recently left the production line and entered the phase of technical and operational tests, according to information from the portal Future Army based on data from BAE Systems Hägglunds. The tests mainly focus on validating the specific configuration ordered by Slovakia, including command, command and communication systems developed in cooperation with local industry. This step is considered crucial to ensure full integration of the vehicle into the Slovak operational requirements.

Slovakia has ordered a total of 152 CV90– vehicles within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement with Sweden. The program includes extensive national industrial participation: more than 30 Slovak companies are involved in production and account for over 40 percent of the total contract value.

In addition to manufacturing, local partners also participate in the development of future modernizations of the platform. The Slovak company Koval Systems for example, is working on an automatic loading system for the CV90120’s 120 mm gun, which strengthens the potential of the CV90 family in variants with higher firepower.

Variants CV9035 MkIV is equipped with a 35 mm main gun, improved levels of ballistic protection and mine protection, and the Iron Fist active protection system. The vehicle is also distinguished by its open and flexible architecture, which enables the integration of modern sensors, electronic systems and weaponry according to the operator’s needs.
