The springs that supply Greater São Paulo are expected to end the rainy season with an average level lower than that recorded last year. According to state government projections, the rate, which currently stands at 33%, could reach 47% by the end of March.
In 2025, at the end of the rainy season, the average reservoir level was 58%. The National Center for Monitoring and Alerting of Natural Disasters (Cemaden) is monitoring the situation, with special attention to the Cantareira system, the largest of the seven that supply the region.
This Tuesday (27), the water source records its lowest level, close to 21%, while in the same period last year it was around 50%. According to the São Paulo government, reducing nighttime water pressure has already resulted in savings of 70 billion liters.
