This Friday (30), the Minister of Planning, Simone Tebet, announced that she will leave her position to run for a seat in the Senate in 2026. According to our reporter Túlio Amâncio, she has already aligned herself with President Lula and will be a candidate.
Tebet was even considered to run for state government, but the minister said she understood that Fernando Haddad and Geraldo Alckmin would be competitive candidates.
In an interview with journalists after participating in an event in São Paulo, Tebet made himself available to the political project led by Lula and said that his political destiny is in the hands of the president. The minister said that she should have a definitive conversation with Lula before Carnival. At the event, Tebet also defended a spending review and criticized the ‘hijacking’ of the budget by Congress. This statement was even refuted by the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta.
