Pro-Iran militia in Iraq warns US against military action in Tehran

Kataib Hezbollah – one of the largest pro-Iran militias in Iraq – warned the United States this Monday (12) against possible military intervention in Iran, amid the strong protests affecting the country and the debate in Washington about possible actions against the Iranian regime.

According to CNNKataib Hezbollah released a statement warning that a conflict with Iran would have serious consequences for the US. In the statement, the extremist group stated that a war “would not be simple” and could turn into a prolonged confrontation, with high costs for Washington.

The demonstration takes place while the President of the United States, Donald Trump, evaluates military options in relation to Iran. According to the CNNthe White House is currently discussing possible measures as a sign of support for the ongoing protests against the Islamic regime. Trump has already threatened to take action against the regime if Iranian forces continue to use lethal force against civilians.

According to the NGO Iran Human Rights, at least 648 protesters were killed in the last two weeks in different provinces of the country. The entity also warned that thousands of detainees are at risk of execution.

In the same statement, Kataib Hezbollah called on its members to show solidarity with the Iranian regime and classified the defense of the Tehran dictatorship as part of the protection of what it called “values ​​and sanctuaries of the Muslim world”. The group also called on Iraqis and allies to ignore “voices of traitors and alarmists,” according to the American network.
