A luxury car broke into a supermarket this Saturday morning (31), in the center of Cascavel (PR), generating panic among customers and employees during one of the establishment’s busiest times. According to Fire Department teams, who were quickly mobilized to the scene with two ambulances and an ABTR truck, two people were hit by the car and suffered minor injuries.
The victims are a 90-year-old woman and a 9-year-old child. The elderly woman received special care due to her advanced age, while the child was also treated and is not at serious risk. There was also a record of another child with light bruises, who refused medical attention at the scene.
Images from security cameras show the moment in which the car — identified as a BMW 320i M — invades the supermarket, hitting shelves and shelves and knocking down structures before hitting the victims waiting in the checkout line.
According to reports from the authorities present, the driver had confused the brake and accelerator pedals when trying to park, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably into the establishment.
Lieutenant Risardi, from the Cascavel Fire Department, reported that the corporation prioritized quick service and the safety of everyone on site, isolating the area for teams to work and assess the damage.
The Military Police were also present and confirmed that the driver will undergo a breathalyzer test as part of the investigation, although initially there was no evidence of a crime other than the accident.
Despite the scare and material damage recorded, there were no victims with serious injuries, and the supermarket partially operated after the area was cleared by authorities.
