The project, led by the Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency, could include concept and design development for up to 28 vessels, which will serve as common platforms for the country’s future naval fleet.

According to the company, participation in this bid comes at a strategic time ahead of the separation from Kongsberg Group and listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange, scheduled for April. The company said this decision strengthens its focus on the maritime sector and its long-term commitment to defense customers.

Kongsberg highlighted its experience in warship construction and systems integration, developing complete designs for more than 1,000 ships and providing technology to Navy and Coast Guard fleets operating in challenging environments. Currently, the company is participating as a systems supplier in surface combatant programs such as the Type 26 frigate for the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Norway.

The company said that these technological assets give it an advantageous position to contribute to the development of the Norwegian Navy’s next-generation ships, providing solutions that balance operational performance, cost efficiency, and technological innovation.
