The project, led by the Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency, could include the concept and design development of up to 28 ships to serve as a common platform for the country’s future naval fleet.
According to the company, this bid was made at a strategic time ahead of its separation from Kongsberggruppen and its listing on the Oslo stock exchange scheduled for April. The company said the move strengthens its focus on the maritime sector and its long-term commitment to defense customers.
Kongsberg highlights its extensive experience in military ship construction and systems integration, saying it has completed complete designs for more than 1,000 ships and provided technology to Navy and Coast Guard fleets operating in harsh environments. The company is currently participating as a system supplier in surface combatant programs, including the Type 26 frigate for the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Norway.
The company says that its technological expertise puts it in a good position to contribute to the development of the Norwegian Navy’s next-generation ships by providing solutions that combine operational performance, cost efficiency and technological innovation.
