Published this Monday (19) on But the viral content is fake, because it digitally manipulated an excerpt from a real speech made on January 15 by the French president (read more below). At the time, he was at a pulpit, in front of which a sign was placed that read “Voeux aux Forces armées” (Votes to the Armed Forces). Macron and Trump have been engaged in a diplomatic rivalry. On the same day, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Frenchman made reference to Trump and said that “this is not the time for imperialism and colonialism.” ⚠️ Why is this a lie? Contacted by email by Fato ou Fake, the press office of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces advised that the full transcript of the statement be consulted, available on the ministry’s official website. Then, he selected one of these “photos” and did a reverse search on Google Lens. This research serves to verify what content had previously been reproduced by reliable sources – and in what context. The result identified the full video of the speech, available on the YouTube channel of the French newspaper “Le Parisien”.
