It is #FAKE that video shows ICE action to arrest immigrant students at school in the USA; scene is a false alarm of a shooting in 2022 Reproduction A video is circulating on social media that allegedly shows ICE (the United States Immigration and Customs Service) agents entering a school to arrest immigrant students. It’s #FAKE. fake seal g1 🛑 What’s the video like? Published on But that’s a lie. In reality, the recording took place four years ago, when police officers received a false alarm of a shooting at a school in Houston (read more below). After publication, the social network itself included the following community note: “The video is out of context. Although there are credible reports of unfair arrests by ICE, this video shows police responding to a 911 call at a school on September 13, 2022, after a prank call about a classroom shooting.” Still, the comments section has messages from users who believed the fake publication. See two examples: “It’s the land of freedom, adored by some fanatics here”; and “But the Americans voted for this government. Now deal with the BO you got.” The video shows a teacher opening the door to a classroom for an agent, who enters the room with his hand up, accompanied by three colleagues, and asks: “Is everyone okay? Put your thumbs up. Nobody managed to get into the room, right? Okay, stay with me. Let’s call everyone out, okay?” The misleading post circulates amid a string of violent stops and unexplained arrests by ICE. On January 7 of this year, immigration agents shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a case that sparked protests across the country. This Thursday (22), at least four children, including a 5-year-old, were detained in the city. ⚠️ Why is this a lie? Despite being real — and not a production of artificial intelligence (AI), for example — the video does not show what the description that has now gone viral claims. Registration took place on September 13, 2022, at Heights High School, a school in Houston, Texas. At the time, police received a call alleging that a shooter had shot ten people at the institution. The teams carried out a sweep of the location and identified that it was a false alarm. In an interview with journalists at the time, the chief of the city’s Police Department, Troy Finner, stated that there was no evidence of a shooting at the school. “This is no joke. Whoever made this call, please understand that all of our agencies, including the FBI, will track down and hold this person accountable.” To find the origin of the video, Fato ou Fake used the InVID tool and fragmented the material into several frames (still images). Then, he selected one of these “photos” and did a reverse search on Google Lens. This research serves to verify what content had previously been reproduced by reliable sources – and in what context. The result identified that the same record was shared on September 13, 2022 on X, with the following caption: “There has been an incident at Heights High School in Houston, Texas, and SWAT is going from classroom to classroom.” A Google search for the school’s name turned up reports from local media outlets that reported on the case. KHOU, a CBS affiliate in Houston, aired the same video during a live broadcast.
