Help is on the way.” The excerpts appear to have been taken from videos published by Pahlavi on social media on January 12th and 13th. Other messages displayed during the invasion claimed that security forces were retreating from the centers of major cities and that thousands had laid down their weapons and declared loyalty to the protesters. Iran has faced protests across the country since the end of December. The demonstrations are driven by economic difficulties, political grievances and dissatisfaction with the clerical establishment in power. Iranian authorities blame foreign enemies for protests.
