Hadjar crashes Red Bull’s new F1 car

by Marcelo Moreira

Isack Hadjar has crashed Red Bull’s RB22 car on the second day of Formula 1’s first pre-season test at Barcelona.

A five-day test is taking place behind closed doors at the Catalan track this week, as teams get to grips with new machinery meeting the overhauled chassis and engine regulations for 2026, with each outfit allowed to run on three of those days.

Red Bull is the only squad that went out both yesterday and today, with Hadjar completing the whole day on Monday while team-mate Max Verstappen was in action on Tuesday morning, as the rain appeared around 10:40am local time.

Hadjar took over on Tuesday afternoon, but footage on social media shows the Red Bull crashed in Tun 14, with the rear end hitting the Tecpro barrier.

A Red Bull spokesperson told Autosport that Hadjar was “all good” following the accident.

The crash happened some around 40 minutes before the end of the day’s session, so Red Bull is not missing out on much track running.

However, this is a setback as spare parts are scarce at this time of year, with teams pushing the limits to keep developing their cars as late as possible before testing.

The three-day cap could be a blessing in disguise for Red Bull if it happens to require some time to fly new parts in, as it could theoretically afford to wait until Friday for its third allocated day of running.

Ferrari was the only other team in action on Tuesday, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton at the wheel of the Scuderia’s SF-26.
