In addition to the X Skorpio, the brand presented other concept models intended for off-road use: GV60 Outdoors Concept, GV70 Outdoors Concept and GV80 Desert Edition. According to the manufacturer, these vehicles are part of a new concept car strategy aimed at strengthening the brand’s emotional connection with its customers and exploring new territories in terms of design and performance.

Concept off-road extrême

The X Skorpio Concept is Genesis’ first project geared towards extreme off-roading. Inspired by the black scorpion, the model was designed to operate in hostile environments, such as deserts, combining advanced technical capabilities with the brand’s own luxury proposition.

According to Genesis, the development of the concept mobilized a team specialized in off-road engineering and design, with a particular emphasis on structural robustness and functionality. The vehicle uses a tubular chassis, full roll cage and components supplied by off-road endurance racing specialists.

“The X Skorpio Concept explores a new facet of Genesis and demonstrates our desire to bring emotion and adrenaline to different segments,” said Luc Donckerwolke, design director of the brand, during the event.

Design inspired by nature

The design of the X Skorpio Concept was developed based on the anatomy and defensive behavior of the black scorpion. The body’s curves evoke the animal’s arched tail, while the segmented panels are reminiscent of an exoskeleton, designed to facilitate rapid repairs in extreme environments.

Functional elements, such as the roof air intake and the high, balanced stance, reinforce the off-road character of the concept. Genesis’ Two-Line lighting signature has been integrated into the front and rear optics, preserving the brand’s visual identity even in a project with a radical profile.

An interior focused on performance and comfort

The interior of the X Skorpio Concept has been designed to provide comfort and safety in severe conditions, going beyond the common utilitarian approach of extreme off-road vehicles. The cabin features ergonomic seats, intuitive controls and climate control systems aimed at reducing driver fatigue.

The dashboard is integrated into the steering wheel, allowing information to be read without taking your eyes off the trajectory. A sliding screen can be configured for exclusive use by the driver or co-driver, making complex routes easier to navigate. Grab handles, advanced communication systems and ergonomic solutions complete the package.

Performance, engineering and safety

Equipped with a high-performance V8 engine developing 1,100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, the X Skorpio Concept sets new benchmarks for off-road driving. The model uses 18-inch beadlock rims paired with 40-inch off-road specific tires, a combination designed to maximize grip and durability on rough terrain.

The braking system includes Brembo Motorsport brakes, which improve stopping power and responsiveness in extreme situations, contributing to precise vehicle control. With generous approach and departure angles, a short wheelbase and a high breakover angle, the concept also features finely tuned suspension and extreme ground clearance, allowing severe obstacles to be overcome without compromising structural integrity.

High-travel wings, reinforced skid plates and precision-engineered components work together to reduce the risk of damage or sanding. Safety is a central element of the project, with an integrated roll cage, four-point harnesses and reinforced structures for the protection of the driver and passengers.

Construction uses a combination of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar, seeking a balance between structural strength and weight reduction.

A focus on the Middle Eastern lifestyle

According to Genesis, the X Skorpio Concept has been adapted to the car culture and lifestyle of the Middle East, where off-road racing and high-speed recreational driving are common practices. In vast desert environments, the vehicle demonstrates its capabilities to climb dunes and “surf” sand with stability and control.

The optimized aerodynamic design reduces drag and maximizes stability, keeping the vehicle under control both in contact with the ground and during take-off phases, guaranteeing safe landings and predictable behavior.

New approach to concept cars

The desert reveal marks the start of Genesis’ new approach to its concept cars, focusing on real-world driving experiences and specific lifestyles, such as off-roading and exploration. To date, the brand has not confirmed production plans for the models presented.
