A former UK councilor pleaded guilty to 48 crimes, including drugging and raping his ex-wife over more than a decade, this Friday (23). At a hearing at Winchester Crown Court, Philip Young, aged 49, admitted: 11 counts of rape 11 counts of administering a substance with intent to stupefy to enable sexual activity seven counts of assault by penetration four counts of sexual assault. The crimes were committed between 2010 and 2023 against his ex-wife, Joanne Young, who, according to the prosecution, waived her legal right to anonymity. Philip’s case is reminiscent of that of Frenchman Dominique Pélicot, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his wife, Gisèle, so that strangers he met on the internet could rape her (remember in the video below).
