EU weighs response to Trump’s tariff threats linked to Greenland

According to Costa, the EU maintains a firm position in defending international law. He responded to a question about Trump’s new statements during a press conference. “What we can say is that the European Union will always be very firm in defending international law, wherever it may be, which, naturally, begins in the territory of the European Union’s Member States,” he said. The declaration came after the signing of the free trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur (read more). Shortly before, Trump had promised to impose tariffs on European allies for opposing what Costa called the American president’s excessive desire to annex Greenland. Trump announces 10% tariff against Denmark and other countries opposed to the US plan to buy Greenland.
