Víctor Navarro, former prisoner and director of the NGO Vozes da Memória, classifies the place as the “largest torture center in Latin America”. Arrested in 2018, Navarro reported the horrors that occurred there during the repression regime: “I witnessed and, at the same time, I was a victim of torture. They put a gun in my mouth, loaded, unlocked (…), they beat me”, Navarro told AFP in 2023.
