This Monday (26), a Brazilian assumed the presidency of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR). The judge Rodrigo Mudrovitsch He has been a member of the international court since 2022 and served as its vice-president between 2024 and 2025. His term as president will continue for a two-year period, until the end of 2027.
The Brazilian judge has a doctorate from USP and a master’s degree from the University of Brasília. In recent years, Mudrovitsch has participated in the idealization of legislative projects and public policies in the National Congress. He worked on the reform of the Civil Code, the new Administrative Improbity Law and was part of the judicial efficiency working group of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), according to information from the Brazil Agency.

As president, he will be at the head of one of the three regional courts for the protection of Human Rights, alongside the European Court and the African Court. The Inter-American Court is an autonomous judicial institution focused on resolving disputes, conflicts and challenges linked to fundamental rights on the continent.
President of the STF and CNJ, Minister Edson Fachin traveled to Costa Rica to attend the inauguration ceremony. On that occasion, a term of commitment was signed to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions. The STF informed that it will send three magistrates to the IDH Court headquarters for training and institutional support for a period of two years.
