Ukrainian interceptor drones have shot down two of Russia’s newest and rarest reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), identified as “Prince Vechy Oleg.”
According to published information, the targets were destroyed by General Cherry AIR interceptor drones developed by the Ukrainian manufacturer General Cherry. Footage of the captures was posted on the company’s official Facebook page, showing the moments when the Russian UAVs are reached and neutralized in the air.

The use of interceptor drones has reportedly made it possible to destroy high-value enemy assets without deploying anti-aircraft missiles, which are considered a scarce and costly resource.

“Prince Vechy Oleg” is presented by the Russian military-industrial complex as one of its most modern UAVs for deep aerial reconnaissance tasks. The system is said to be capable of detecting targets at a distance of 40-45 kilometers from the line of contact, as well as operating independently of satellite navigation. Another prominent feature is the existence of a secure communication channel, which provides a high degree of resistance to electronic warfare (EW) interference.

Known characteristics of the Russian UAV
- Wingspan: 2.8 m
- Length: 0.82 m
- Weight: 11 kg
- Maximum speed: 130 km/h
- Peak operating altitude: up to 3,000 m
Experts point out that the destruction of a reconnaissance drone of this category confirms the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian interceptor drones.
By “blinding” the enemy and disrupting surveillance and target acquisition tasks, these systems help reduce pressure on conventional air defense systems and conserve more expensive munitions to deal with larger threats.
