President of France, Emmanuel Macron, shows willingness in training with military personnel The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, showed that he “broke a sweat” in physical training with French military personnel during his visit to a military base in the country in Abu Dhabi this Sunday (21). Macron, who turned 48 on the same day, posted a video on his social media this Monday (22), where he appears doing exercises such as planks, push-ups and squats. The images also show the French president watching military demonstrations, eating with officers and receiving a congratulation complete with cake for his birthday. “It’s a great honor to share these moments with our military. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season,” he wrote in the caption. During the visit, Macron announced that France will build a new, larger and more modern aircraft carrier to strengthen France’s maritime power. The vessel, which is expected to be the largest warship ever built in Europe, is expected to cost around 10.2 million euros – the equivalent of R$66.8 million – and should only be operational by 2038. The announcement comes amid Europe’s efforts to seek greater autonomy in the area of security and defense, due to Russia’s war in Ukraine and US President Donald Trump’s reluctance to support the continent’s security.
