The United States embassy in Brazil took advantage of the holiday season to encourage illegal immigrants in the United States to self-deport.
Through a publication in X, this Friday (26), the embassy cited the “benefits” of leaving the country.
“How about earning US$3,000 to leave the United States now? In addition to a free ticket back home, illegal immigrants can self-deport through the CBP Home app until the end of the year and receive assistance of US$3,000”, says the text.
The embassy in Brazil justified that, in this way, illegal immigrants who remain in the United States can receive the “bonus” and return home for the end of year festivities.
Last week, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) tripled aid for immigrants who apply for self-deportation on the CBP Home app by the end of the year.
In addition to the US$3,000 cost and airline tickets, those registered on the government app will be exempt from fines or civil penalties for not having left the country sooner.
