United States President Donald Trump has tightened threats against any group that attacks Americans. The statement came after the military counterattack that US forces launched against the Islamic State in Syria. The president stated that the United States will respond with even greater force to new threats.
“All terrorists who are evil enough to attack Americans are warned that they WILL BE HIT HARDER THAN THEY HAVE EVER BEEN HIT BEFORE IF THEY ATTACK OR THREATEN THE USA IN ANY WAY,” Trump wrote, using all capital letters, on the Truth Social network.
The US government has decided to retaliate for the terrorist attack that killed two American soldiers on Saturday (13), in the Palmyra region, in central Syria. Trump stated that the American military is intensely attacking areas controlled by the extremist group. He declared that the elimination of the Islamic State could pave the way for a more stable future in the country and said that the Syrian government supports the operation.
“We are striking hard at the Islamic State’s strongholds in Syria, a place drenched in blood and conflict, but which could have a bright future if we eliminate the Islamic State,” the president wrote.
War Secretary says US counterattack in Syria was revenge
The United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, reinforced on the X network that the operation does not mark the beginning of a new war. “This is not the start of a war — it is a declaration of revenge,” he said. The secretary stated that the United States will maintain an offensive posture in the face of any threat. “The United States of America, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, will never hesitate and will never relent in the defense of its people,” he said.
The attack that motivated the offensive occurred in Palmira. An Islamic State sniper ambushed a patrol and killed Iowa National Guard Sergeants William Howard and Edgar Torres Tovar, as well as interpreter Ayad Mansoor Sakat. Three other soldiers were injured.
