LONDON, 23 December 2025 — Auction platform Collecting Cars has put up for sale the last Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition produced.
The Heritage Edition was created to celebrate the legacy of the HUE 166 — the first Land Rover Series I pre-production from 1947 — and symbolized the last chapter of the traditional Defender.
In the UK, only 400 units were allocated, making the model one of the most sought after by collectors worldwide. In 2023, an example with delivery kilometers was traded for a six-figure sum, reinforcing the appeal of this historic chapter.
The vehicle now up for auction is a Defender 90 Heritage Edition, finished in iconic Grasmere Metallic green with an Alaska White roof, and driven just 4,597 miles since 2016.

The exterior retains all the elements that made the Special Series famous: heritage-style grille and lamp bezels, body-coloured steel wheels, silver front bumper with black caps, clear indicators and door hinges in Indus Silver.
Aluminum emblems and historic HUE 166 graphics on the front fenders complete the kit with vintage-inspired style.
Inside, the Defender combines classic robustness with a touch of sophistication. There is a perforated leather steering wheel, clad gear lever and handbrake, shiny aluminum details on the air vents and doors, as well as seats in Almond Resolve fabric with historic logos and HUE 166 badges. Practical elements such as rubber mats and a padded storage box underline the model’s functional character.

Built on 29 January 2016, the last official day of Defender production, this example is confirmed as the last Heritage Edition to leave the factory.
With only one private owner since new, the vehicle remains completely original and in excellent condition, accompanied by a complete documentation folder confirming its provenance and significance, including reports and special articles.

Commenting on the listing, Edward Lovett, founder of Collecting Cars, highlighted that Defender special editions are attracting global interest because they capture the essence of the classic factory-spec model.
According to him, this is “literally the ultimate Defender Heritage, as the last of the production line, and represents a unique opportunity in the market”.
Bids are from the UK, but international bids are open, making this low-mileage, one-owner Defender 90 Heritage Edition a rare opportunity for collectors seeking one of the most iconic modern Land Rover models ever produced.
The auction, which lasts seven days, ends on December 30 exclusively on the platform Collecting Cars.
