South African authorities are searching for those responsible for an armed attack that resulted in the deaths of nine people. The crime occurred during the early hours of the morning and shocked residents of the region.
According to initial investigations, around twelve shooters allegedly shot at the public in a bar at around 1 am local time. In addition to the fatal victims, ten other people were injured.
The massacre took place in a city located less than 50 kilometers from Johannesburg. So far, the motivation for the attack has not yet been clarified by the police.
The episode reinforces concern about violence in the country, which records one of the highest homicide rates in the world. Between the months of April and September, the average was approximately 64 deaths per day.
