The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo issued a cell broadcast alert for heavy rain in the central and northern regions of the city of São Paulo and in Elisiário and Catanduva, in the region of São José do Rio Preto. The Government of SP mobilizes a crisis office from Monday (29) to coordinate prevention and assistance actions for municipalities in light of the forecast and possible occurrence of heavy rains in the state during the New Year holiday.
According to meteorology, this Saturday (27) there were storms in some regions of the state amid high temperatures.
In the capital and Greater SP, 16 tree falls were recorded, with no occurrences of flooding or collapses.
Civil Defense reinforces that the population must take extra care during the alert:
- avoid wooded areas during high winds;
- secure or collect loose objects that can be thrown;
- never try to cross flooded areas or floodwaters;
- Pay attention to signs of landslides, such as cracks in the walls of properties and muddy water running down the slope.
- In case of emergency, the population should call the Civil Defense at number 199 and the Fire Department at number 193.
Weather forecast
Throughout the day, the heat combined with the approach of a cold front along the coast creates conditions for isolated rain showers, which may be accompanied by lightning and winds, but without significant accumulations. Still, attention is recommended in more vulnerable areas. In the capital, temperatures vary between 22 °C and 34 °C.
The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo informs that between Monday (29) and Tuesday (30), the influence of a meteorological system will favor the occurrence of heavy rain, with severe storms, lightning, gusts of wind and the possibility of isolated hail throughout the state.
Although high accumulations are not expected, there is potential for disruptions, such as flooding, floods, landslides, as well as events related to wind, lightning and hail.
