The Agriculture Federation of Rio Grande do Sul (Farsul) received representatives from Banco do Brasil, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agrarian Development to discuss the low adherence of rural producers to debt renegotiations. The meeting took place at Farsul’s headquarters, in Porto Alegre.
During the meeting, the entity highlighted that many producers still face difficulties in adapting their debts to the current Provisional Measure and presented a document detailing the operational problems faced.
One of the main obstacles highlighted was the requirement to prove climate losses, which involves the presentation of complex technical reports, making it difficult for farmers to access resources.
The issue of the lack of rural insurance in the state’s recent harvests was also addressed. MAPA’s National Secretary of Agricultural Policy, Guilherme Campos, recognized the importance of resolving the problem and informed that the ministry is already working on a new model to resume coverage throughout Rio Grande do Sul.
