Russian Helicopters has handed over new lots of Mi-8MTV-1 multi-role helicopters to three Russian airlines, improving transport access in the country’s Far North and Far East regions.
These aircraft were supplied within the framework of GTLC’s investment project aimed at renewing Russia’s domestic helicopter fleet.
The Mi-8MTV-1 is designed to operate under almost any weather conditions and maintains high reliability over a wide temperature range of -50°C to +50°C. It is possible to install additional fuel tanks with a capacity of 915 liters each, significantly extending the range. This is a critical element in missions in areas with large areas and limited infrastructure.

The delivered helicopter is a 22-seater passenger version with a modular cabin, and by installing a medical module, it can be quickly converted to an aeromedical evacuation mission. It can also be equipped with an external sling hook to transport suspended cargo of up to 4 tons.
Two of the aircraft were assigned to the Barguzin airline. The remaining two aircraft were handed over to Arkhangelsk 2nd Joint Aviation Squadron and Alrosa Aviation Company, respectively. At the handover ceremony, symbolic keys were handed over to representatives of each company, as is customary.
The ceremony was attended by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and Director of Rosaviatsia Dmitry Yadorov.

According to Nikolai Kolesov, head of the industrial group, the state company Rostec, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport, continues to supply new aircraft to remote regions, which are of critical importance for territorial development and logistical connectivity. In recent years, Russian Helicopters has delivered more than 100 aircraft to the region through its contract with GTLC.
