Russian Helicopters Holding has delivered a new batch of multipurpose helicopters Mi-8MTV-1 to three Russian airlines, expanding transport accessibility in the country’s Far North and Far East.
The supply of this aircraft was part of the GTLC investment project aimed at modernizing Russia’s helicopter fleet.
The Mi-8MTV-1 is designed to operate in virtually all climate conditions and maintains reliable performance over a wide temperature range from −50°C to +50°C. It can also be equipped with additional fuel tanks with a capacity of 915 liters each, significantly increasing range, which is a critical factor for missions carried out in areas with vast territories and limited infrastructure.

The delivered helicopter has a 22-passenger transport configuration and a modular cabin, so it can be quickly converted to an air medical evacuation mission by installing a medical module. It can also be equipped with an external sling hook to transport suspended cargo weighing up to 4 tons.
Of these, two were assigned to Barguzin Airlines. The remaining two aircraft were delivered to the Arkhangelsk 2nd Integrated Aviation Squadron and Alrosa Airlines, respectively. Following tradition, symbolic keys were handed over to each company representative at the handover ceremony.
The event was attended by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Director of the Russian Civil Aviation Authority Rosaviatsia Dmitry Yadrov.

According to Nikolai Kolesov, head of the industrial group, state-owned company Rostec, with support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport, continues to supply new aircraft to remote regions, which are seen as key in terms of territorial development and logistics connectivity. In recent years, Russian Helicopters has delivered more than 100 aircraft to the region solely through contracts signed with GTLC.
