During his speech at the Mercosur Summit, this Saturday (20), in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), President Lula warned the countries of the South American bloc about American threats of intervention in Venezuela.
The Brazilian president stated that an offensive of this size by the Americans in Venezuela would be a “humanitarian catastrophe” for the southern hemisphere, and this could set a “dangerous precedent for the world”.
The United States and Venezuela have been experiencing tensions for months. Since August, the Americans have deployed a strong military apparatus in the Caribbean. At first, the White House justified the action as part of the fight against drug trafficking.
