Part of the Ministry of Finance rule that prevents the registration of beneficiaries of social programs on betting sites has been suspended. It has been in effect since the beginning of October.
The decision was made by Minister Luiz Fux, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The action was requested by the National Gaming and Lottery Association. The unlocking of active accounts and the reactivation of accounts that have already been closed were determined. However, the prohibition remains valid for new registrations or opening new accounts.
A conciliation hearing was scheduled for February 10, 2026 to discuss the issue with government representatives and also with sector entities.
