The LSS program was initiated by the flagship Vulcano (A 5335), which was delivered to the Italian Navy in March 2021 and is already in operational service. Like the Vulcano, the Atlante has a full displacement in excess of 27,000 tons and a length of 193 meters, making it one of the largest and most capable logistics support platforms in the Italian fleet.
