United States President Donald Trump announced the appointment of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as special envoy for Greenland. The autonomous territory of Denmark, located in the Arctic, has been a long-time target of Trump’s interest, who once again cited reasons of national security and the island’s mineral potential to justify the initiative.
With that, Denmark summoned the United States ambassador to demand explanations about a new attempt by the Americans to control Greenland. The European country’s decision was also made because of Jeff’s statements.
He said this Monday that Greenland has to become part of the United States and that he will work to make that happen. The words sounded bad in Denmark. In diplomatic language, the recall of an ambassador represents a reprimand from one country to another.
