The drug trafficker appointed as head of the Red Command in Aparecida de Goiânia, in Goiás, was arrested last Sunday (28), on São Conrado beach, on the coast of Rio.

According to investigations, Daniel Rodrigues dos Santos, known as “Bozo”, was on the run from Justice in Goiás and had been hiding in the community of Rocinha, located just over four kilometers from the place where he was approached.

The Military Police inform that the criminal has direct links with the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction and managed to escape “Operation Containment”, carried out in Complexos do Alemão and Penha, on October 28, which resulted in 122 deaths.

At the time of the approach, two other men accompanied the suspect. The group was taken to the Rocinha Police Station, where the case was registered and the companions provided clarifications.

Rio de Janeiro authorities have made several arrests of criminal leaders who try to use the state’s beaches as refuge or leisure. Last month, the Military Police arrested, also in São Conrado, Fábio Machado Nogueira, “Fabinho Olhão”, identified as a member of drug trafficking in Vila Kennedy, West Zone of the capital.

In September, the Police detained Ederson Xavier de Lima, known as “Boré”, on Praia de Itacoatiara, in Niterói. Boré is identified as one of the leaders of the Red Command in Mato Grosso.
