The trial of Flamengo player Bruno Henrique’s appeal will be resumed this Thursday afternoon (13), by the Superior Court of Justice. Monday’s session was postponed after auditor Marco Aurélio Choy asked to see the process regarding the sports manipulation case.
Before the review request, the player had already received a favorable vote. The case’s rapporteur, Sérgio Furtado Filho, voted for the athlete’s acquittal in article 243-a, which provides for up to 12 games of suspension, and for conviction in article 191, which sets a fine of R$100,000 for the accused.
At the beginning of September, Bruno Henrique was sentenced to a 12-game suspension and the payment of a fine of R$60,000 for his involvement in a betting manipulation scheme. However, soon after, Flamengo and the athlete’s defense managed to have the decision suspended and the attacker could continue playing.
Until the session is resumed, the suspension effect achieved by the athlete continues to be valid. Bruno Henrique is accused of forcing a yellow card in a match against Santos, valid for the 2023 Brazilian Championship, to benefit bettors.
