Three people died after a shooting attack at CEFET’s Maracanã campus, in the North Zone of Rio, on Friday afternoon (28). Two women, employees of the institution, were shot and taken to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, but they did not survive their injuries. The shooter was found dead at the scene.
According to the Military Police, agents from the 6th BPM were called after reports of gunshots inside the teaching unit. Upon arriving at the campus, they found the victims seriously injured and called the Fire Department, who provided first aid. Forensics were called and the incident remains under investigation by the Civil Police.
Images sent to BandNews FM show students improvising barricades with chairs and tables to protect themselves, while some teachers continued to teach without knowing what was happening outside. The atmosphere on campus was tense until the security teams arrived.
