In Rio, the mayor of London approves Brazilian snacks, but rejects guarana In a video taken in Rio de Janeiro during the C40 summit, the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, tried typical Brazilian snacks. In a good mood, he approved snacks such as cheese bread, brigadeiro and tapioca biscuits, but did not hide his rejection of zero-carbonated guaraná soda. “That’s good, it looks like “onion rings” [anéis de cebola à milanesa]. Maybe I’ll swap the shrimp cocktails for this,” said Khan after eating tapioca cookies, in the video released this Thursday (13). Regarding the brigadeiro, he gave a new compliment: “Chocolate, good texture. You need to have a tissue nearby or a sink. It is very good. You know what would be good? A cup of tea [para acompanhar]”. As for the cheese bread, Khan saw similarities with the “scone”, an English wheat or oat muffin, with baking powder, baked in the oven on baking sheets. “It’s cool. But it would be better with tea”, he observed, again. The low-calorie guarana soda was the only item that suffered criticism – and severe ones. “It’s horrible. Sorry, man, I can’t pretend,” he said. Interestingly, however, he really liked a guaraná-based drink with sugar, but without gas, which he compared to tea. To finish, the mayor of the English capital enjoyed a paçoca. For a change, he maintained character and ordered a side of tea. The comments on the post were invaded by Brazilians. Some followers observed that the soda would be better with ice. Others missed other typically Brazilian items, such as coxinhas. Mayor of London focuses on trying tapioca biscuits Reproduction Sadiq Khan, mayor of London, disapproves of Guaraná soda Reproduction
