Former president of Argentina Cristina Kirchner, who is currently under house arrest, had 20 properties seized by court order. The seizure of the assets, which belong to Cristina and her family, is part of her conviction for fraud in a public works scheme.
The former president was placed under house arrest in June this year, shortly after being convicted. According to the Argentine Public Ministry, this is the biggest corruption case in the country’s history.
Kirchner, who between 2003 and 2015 dominated Argentine politics as first lady and then as president, is accused of leading a criminal association that during this period raised money from businessmen who would have benefited from contracts with state-owned companies.
Earlier this month, Cristina Kirchner was returned to trial on bribery charges in a separate case. In addition to Kirchner, 19 former employees, two drivers and 65 businesspeople will go to trial.
