After a series of negotiations and a new report, the anti-faction PL should be voted on this Wednesday (12) in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies.
The project was on the agenda for Tuesday’s session (11), but the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta, held the vote due to lack of agreement. The reason was the government’s dissatisfaction with the report presented by deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP).
In the first version of the text, Derrite included that it would be the responsibility of the state civil police to investigate criminal organizations involved in so-called “terrorist” acts.
The PF would only act when there were interstate or transnational repercussions; risk to national security or international public order; and when the Ministry of Justice determined the joint action of the forces following the governor’s request.
The third version of the text, presented on Tuesday night (11), eliminates the changes in the anti-terrorism law and removes the changes to the PF’s actions.
The document also provides for harsher penalties: 20 to 40 years in prison for leaders of criminal factions.
