Cynthia Erivo Protects Ariana Grande After Fan Jumps Barricade at ‘Wicked’ Premiere
Ariana Grande is a sentimental woman.
After an incident in which a fan rushed the barricade at Wicked: For Good’s premiere in Singapore Nov. 13 left her shaken, Ariana shared a message to the country.
“Thank you, Singapore,” the 32-year-old captioned a Nov. 14 Instagram post. “We love you.”
Accompanying the post was a carousel of images chronicling her and costars Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh’s time in the country, with shots of the group walking at the premiere together as well as images of Ariana in two sparkling, Glinda-inspired gowns.
Ariana’s loving message comes just one day after the premiere, during which a fan jumped the barricade separating the film’s stars from the attendees and rushed at Ariana, wrapping his arm around her and jumping up and down.
The incident was caught on social media—as was the way Cynthia immediately rushed to her costar’s side, looking to separate Ariana from the fan even before security reached the group. Within seconds, both Cynthia and the bodyguards removed the fan and escorted him off the carpet.
