Ukraine’s 3rd Separate Assault Brigade began using American M1117 armored vehicles in its training, becoming the third unit of the country’s Land Forces to operate the model.
One of the vehicles was displayed during a session of the 1st Marine Battalion, demonstrating the gradual incorporation of the equipment into the Ukrainian army.

The M1117, originally developed for the United States Army Military Police, stands out for its mobility, firepower and high protection against explosions. The transfer of these vehicles to Ukraine was announced in 2022, and the first units began to be seen on Ukrainian territory in 2024, after undergoing adaptations for combat use.
In addition to the M1117s, Ukraine is expected to receive 65 new Mobile Attack Force Vehicles (MSFV) this year, modernized versions of the American model. These versions bring improvements in crew protection, greater internal space and increased resistance to mines, reinforcing the defense and mobility capabilities of Ukrainian troops.
