The President of the United States, Donald Trump, participates this Monday (13) in a historic session in the Israeli Parliament, marked by the return of the last survivors of Hamas captivity, after two years of war.
In opening statements, the republican thanked “the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” for the release of the hostages. “After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to the embrace of their families, and that is glorious,” he said, adding that “it is a day of deep joy, of great hope, of renewed faith” for the whole world.
Trump thanked his team, especially Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff, for their efforts in reaching a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas. Furthermore, the president criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that he is “not easy to deal with, but that’s what makes him great.”
