‘You won’t be offended if I say you’re beautiful, will you’, says Trump to Giorgia Meloni In an apparent “singing line”, US President Donald Trump praised the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. Both met this Monday (13) with other heads of state and government in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, during the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. “In America, if you tell a woman she is beautiful, her political career is over, but I take the risk,” Trump said from the pulpit while speaking. Then he turned towards Meloni, who was behind him: “You won’t be offended if I say you’re beautiful, will you? Because you are.” ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp The Italian prime minister, known for her faces and mouths at official events, reacted with deference. At other points in Trump’s speech, however, Meloni seemed bored. Leaders from several countries around the world signed this Monday (13) in Egypt an agreement to formalize the ceasefire in the war in the Gaza Strip. The two sides of the conflict, Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, however, were not present. The signing took place at a Gaza peace summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheik. The document was signed by Trump and the leaders of Egypt, President Abdul al-Sisi, of Turkey, President Recep Erdogan, and of Qatar, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani — these nations acted as mediators in the peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas. People wouldn’t believe we would achieve peace in the Middle East (…) Now, reconstruction [de Gaza] begins”, said Trump. More than 20 world leaders will meet at this peace summit in Egypt. Among them are: the President of the United States, Donald Trump; the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas; the President of Egypt, Abdul Fatah Al Sisi; the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni; UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer; the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
